Adhesion Improvement of Bio‐Based Epoxy in Environmentally Friendly and High‐Performance Natural Fiber‐Reinforced Composites

Developing robust bio-based epoxy against petroleum-derived is necessary for environmentally friendly and high-performance natural fiber-reinforced composites. A vanillin (VE) synthesized from the lignin-derived vanillin, a thermoset resin prepared after mixing it with 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl methane (DDM) hardener. Further, infused in high-cellulose-containing alkali-treated jute fiber (TJF) mats through simple approach to enhance adhesion between VE-DDM TJF. Bio-based shows better compatibility TJF than bisphenol diglycidyl ether (DGEBA) epoxy. The VE-DDM/TJF composite demonstrates Tgis ≈165 °C, tensile strength ≈83.12 ± 3.80 MPa, Young's modulus ≈2.86 0.10 GPa excellent flexural (138.72 3.81 MPa) (8.01 0.11 GPa). It also merits regarding hydrophobicity, reduced water absorption ability, durability, chemical resistance an acidic medium. VE composites pave way produce structural applications.
